Swez Brasserie Semi Buffet Dinner @ Eastin Hotel Penang.

A brasserie simply can be defined as an unpretentious restaurant that serves beer and wine as well as hearty food.
It was my other half's 19th birthday and naturally, i brought her to a slightly high-end restaurant, just like the old days.
After a deep survey, i have finally made up my mind and set my sight on Swez Brasserie which is located on level 1 of Eastin Hotel Penang.
Initially, i have enquired the brasserie management via email and i received very detail information from them.
Apparently, they are launching Texas Grill themed buffet until 30 April 2011.
For semi buffet, appetizers and desserts are in the buffet line and you are opted to choose your preferred main course from the menu.
The price ranges from RM45++ to RM78++, depending on your main course choice.
However, if you are only having buffet, that would cost RM38++.
Do note that there is no free flow of drinks.
Freshly squeezed fruit juice is available from RM8++.
We went for sky juice which is free of charge.

The menu of the night.
The prices stated are subjected to 10% service charge and 6% government tax.

Let's kick off with the starters.
I was stunned to see multitude of them laid out in the buffet line.
Luckily, my other half and i were the earliest birds.
Hence, i got the chance to snap down all of the appetizers before they lost their elegant appearances.

Coleslaw.

Fish salad.

Chicken sausage salad.

Seafood salad. Uh-oh, i spotted a living fly there.

Curried potato salad which was scrumptious!

Cold roasted beef slices.

Pate.

Smoked ham.

Can't recall its name.

Marinated Flank Steak.

Assorted bread rolls.

A wide variety of cheese.

The open kitchen which serves noodle soup and Roti John.

I highly recommend the shrimps and mussels.
Flashing back, i have once tried out the fresh mussel at Jogoya and it was very smelly.
Seriously, you must give them a try, the shrimps and mussels here were super fresh!!
And, i spotted two lovely fruit sculptures there.

Sashimi.

The salad bar.

Well, just finished having our first round for appetizers, we were asked if we would like to have our main courses now.
Yes, i replied so that i could enjoy the enjoy the desserts as soon as possible.
You know what? The desserts were like tempting me every time i walk pass them.
For your information, my selection was the Roasted Spring Chicken which was served in a gigantic portion.
The chicken was firm and solid but the bad thing was that i have spent almost an hour to finish it as i encountered some problems while i was cutting it.
I got quite full after stuffing this half chicken into my stomach.
The spotlight was on the orangish ambrosia gravy.

My other half has chosen the Nasi Goreng Numb Tongue.
I have no idea what is the meaning of numb tongue.
Indonesian style Belacan fried rice topped with an egg was served along with local fritters, Satay and deep fried chicken wings.
The rice was pretty classy and so did the Satay.
Regarding the wings, they were aromatic but i found them a bit hard.
My other half finished her rice obediently but not the chicken wings.
Alright, dessert time!!

There was a wide spectrum of desserts choices.

Bakes and cakes!

I have viewed through a review and acknowledged that the ice cream offered was Baskin Robins ice cream.
However, i did not find it true that night.

Local Tong Sui, Bubur Pulut Hitam.

The service was quite efficient.
I have requested warm water for my other half and she was suffering from minor gastric problems.
Within minutes, my demand was fulfilled.
