Chicken & Duck Rice at Happy Cafe @ Sungai Dua, Penang

Well, i can't think of where and what to have for lunch, i don't know which coffee shop is nice and which is not.
As my college is located in a region which is fulled of offices, i would always compete with white-collar workers for parking places.
I have acquired a few recommendations from Jacgy, and one of them was the duck rice in Bukit Jambul.
My other half and i have travelled there and i can't find a legal parking lot.
So, we have changed our minds and went to Sungai Dua.
The only more crowded coffee shop was the Happy Cafe which is situated in Taman Pekaka.
On the way from Tesco Extra to Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal, take the right turn once you have seen Nasi Kandar Subaidah.
Keep going forward and take the first turning on the left , you should be able to spot the coffee shop now.


Surprisingly, there are two respective stalls in which we have thought that they are one.
But, they are not.
One of them is selling Chicken Rice and the other one is selling Duck Rice.
Both of them do sell carbonado pork (烧肉).
We have decided to try both of them.
Few minutes right just after i placed my order, here came my Chicken Rice.
Looking good there huh?
The gravy was sweet and it tasted completely different from the Duck Rice.
Overall, the Chicken Rice which cost me 3 bucks had nothing special except the small bowl of soup.
I wonder what soup was that as it was very mouthwatering and i have never had soup like this before.
The soup was spicy and peppery and its appearance was like 咸菜汤.




This was what i like.
The gravy of the Duck Rice was special as it was thick, dark and would give out some sort of scorching aroma.
The rice cost us 6 bucks as thigh meat was given and carbonado was added.
I personally think that the price was fair.
A small bowl of Kiam Chai Buey (咸菜尾) which was fine was served along.
The dark Duck Meat was of course, greasy and was definitely yummy.
So did the carbonado.
I highly rate the carbonado!






In conclusion, i was damn thirsty after consuming both bowls of soup.
Therefore, i did not know which of them was the factor, damn!
